Cohort Entry
Koputaroa School operates a cohort entry policy as allowed by the Education and Training Act 2020. Cohort entry means new entrants start school in groups at the start of each term or at a mid-term date set by the Ministry of Education.
Our cohort entry policy helps new entrants to build relationships with their peers and minimises disruption for new entrant teachers.
Community consultation and notice
To ensure our cohort entry policy would be acceptable to our community, we took all reasonable steps to discover and consider the views of the following groups at the time of this policy's adoption:
parents of current and prospective students
school staff
local early childhood centres.
We notified the Ministry of Education of the policy adoption and gave one term's notice before starting.
If we consider revoking this cohort entry policy at a later date, we will consult with the groups above. If we decide to revoke the policy, we will provide one term's notice before adopting a continuous entry policy.
